TMCEC’s Municipal Traffic Safety Initiatives (MTSI) grant, funded by the Texas Department of Transportation, was piloted on October 1, 2006. MTSI’s purpose is to prevent impaired driving through Texas municipal courts. This is achieved by offering impaired driving courses at judicial education seminars and through webinars, distributing free anti-DUI and DWI books and materials, and recognizing as models those municipal courts that demonstrate excellence in impaired driving prevention. Reaching thousands of municipal judges and court staff persons every year, MTSI plays an integral role in preventing impaired driving and making Texas roads safer.
MTSI was selected for a 2016 Peter K. O'Rourke Special Achievement Award from the Governor's Highway Safety Association (GHSA)!
MTSI received the award on August 30, 2016 in Seattle at the GHSA Annual Conference.
