On December 15, 2020, the Yahoo Groups website (the current home for TMCEC’s listservs) will shut down. As of that date, messages will no longer be able to be posted on TMCEC's Yahoo Groups listservs. However, TMCEC has secured a new home for its listservs!
Members of the current listservs will automatically become members of the new listservs. For example, if you currently belong to the municipal judges listserv hosted on yahoo, you will automatically become a member of the municipal judges listserv on the new platform. Look for a welcome email on December 15 with instructions on how to post messages and where to locate the new landing page. Each listserv will have its own landing page. The new listservs will have familiar functionality.
Questions regarding the new listservs should be directed to Patty Thamez (thamez@tmcec.com).
The Texas Municipal Courts Education Center sponsors a listserv for municipal judges, clerks and court administrators, and prosecutors. Users who participate must agree to the Terms of Use (see below). There is no charge to members.
The purposes of this listserv are to (1) provide participants with up-to-date information on laws and procedures that affect the operations of Texas municipal courts; (2) allow participants to network, problem solve, and share with others what problems arise in your court; and (3) distribute information relevant to municipal courts, such as information on publications and seminars.
Hundreds of constituents are already participating on the TMCEC listserv, and users must be careful to not send irrelevant messages as they will be blocked from participation.
To join the listserv, send your name, title, court name, telephone number, and email address to Katherine Walker at TMCEC or email this information to her. To remove your name from the listserv, just send a message to unsubscribe.
What is a Listserv? Listservs work like a mailing list of people who are interested in the same topics. One person can correspond with many people at once. Every message posted to the list is sent to all of the list subscribers by electronic mail received automatically. |
TMCEC Listserv: Terms of Use
The following terms are acknowledged and binding upon all individuals using the TMCEC Listserv:
1. By participating, users claim that they are currently employed in a Texas municipal court.
2. Users agree that the primary purpose of the listserv is to provide a collegial forum for municipal judges, court administrators, clerks, and prosecutors to share general legal information and thoughts pertaining to municipal court matters.
3. Users agree that they will not disclose specific information about pending cases, reveal confidential information, or make inappropriate comments in violation of the Canons of Judicial Conduct.
4. Users acknowledge that all electronic transmissions are neither confidential nor protected from public disclosure.
5. Users assume individual responsibility for their comments and agree that violation of the stated terms of use can result in their removal from the listserv.
6. While the listserv is sponsored by the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center, the comments expressed by users are solely those of the author and are not those of the Texas Municipal Courts Association Board of Directors or the staff of TMCEC.7. The listserv is an alternate to daily email. You may request a daily digest instead of individual emails. This option is used if you want to see all the messages, but limit the amount of email you receive. We'll compile an email of up to 25 messages and send them daily. This includes special notices!
